I'm willing to bet that there are few projects easier {and cuter} than paper covered door stars. If you haven't noticed already, I'm totally addicted!
The process is simple.
Supplies Needed:
Metal Door Star {found anywhere - garage sale, your local craft store, maybe even already hanging in your house}
Scrapbook Paper {these can be made to match your home, a holiday, a special occasion - anything!}
Modge Podge {or any other brand of a dcoupage finish}
Foam Brushes
Glitter, Ribbon, Trim {optional}
Directions:
Arrange your scrapbook paper in the order you'd like it to be on the star. For my spiderweb star I used the same paper throughout, but my year-round star {the one that hangs when I don't have a holidar star to display} is made of different patterns. You can use as many as you'd like!
I suggest using a piece of paper bag to create a pattern of the shape for your star planes. Keep in mind, each star tip has two planes - they face eachother to make one point. So, if you're mixing papers, be sure you cut the pieces of paper in the right direction.
Making the patterns is simple! Just place your paper bag paper over the star and press into the creases. Once you have a good idea of where to cut, simply use scissors and make your pattern piece. I suggest making the pattern pieces just a tad smaller than the actual piece on the metal star so you don't have any overlap. I tend to like to see a little bit of the metal star between each piece. But, only a suggestion - it's all up to your personal taste!
Once you have all of your paper pieces cut, it's time to modge podge! The easiest way is to work one strip at a time and then to work your way around the star one piece at a time. Don't be afraid of the modge podge, either. Cake it on, place your paper and smooth out any bumps. You may have to watch the pieces and smooth them out as they dry, but the wetter the modge podge surface, the less bumps because it will all dry cohesively.
After letting the paper pieces dry onto your star a bit, cover the entire star with one more layer of modge podge to seal the paper in. At this point, if you want to add some glitter {like I did}, sprinkle it on while the top layer of modge podge is dry. Once everything is dry, feel free to tie on some decorative ribbons, trim or tulle to finish the look.

I'm officially hooked on repurposing items I find for little cost or {even} better...free! So far this week I've finished:
My new message center {to go in my kitchen}
Months will rotate {I've made enough squares for all 12 months}
Dates will rotate {numbers will be moved monthly to the day of the week that they belong on}
Birthdays will be remembered {I'm making a magnet for each person in my family - immediate and extended to siblings, nieces, nephews, grandparents - and that will replace the number magnet on the month of their birthday}
And to think, it all started with a $4 dollar, hideously plain white {w/ spraypainted corkboard} find at a garage sale!

And just when you think it can't get any sweeter...
Stone Ridge Tart Frozen Yogurt.
When a girl can't afford to go to Red Mango every day {ohhhhhh, how I wish I could}, this amazing grocery store find will suffice. It's so good, people! Tart yummy flavors - strawberry, peach or blueberry pomegranate. And lowfat. If I need an extra something, I put some fresh fruit or a few mini-chocolate chips on top. Heaven, seriously.
Tuesday was good.

It's Fall and that means Sunday activities are altered just a little. Sure, the basics are the same {church, family dinner, maybe a visit to grandma's}, but Beau will be a little preoccupied from today on out.

Well folks, I've been blessed again. Only this time, in larger measure.
This mama's tired after an hour and a half of cleaning hall carpets, bathroom floors and the toilet.
Who knew a 3 year old mineature little girl could be so "explosive".
No pictures this time, either. It really was that bad.

Today I am grateful for:
Reality Television. I looooooooooooooooooove reality tv. I know it's awful and voyeuristic and cheesy, but I can't help myself. Big Brother, The Bachelor, America's Next Top Model, SYTYCD, Project Runway...
Relationships. Every one of them. The romantic and forever kind {Beau}, the motherly and instinctive kind {my kids}, the loyal and true kind {my family}, the dependable and fun kind {my friends}, the casual and consistent kind {work, church}, the faceless and sometimes anonymous kind {blogs, facebook}. All of them, in one way or another, help define who I am and who I want to be.
Relatives. And speaking of relationships...I've got some awesome family! My own that I've had to myself my whole life and now get to share with my husband and kids and my in-laws and extended family from Beau's side of things. I am truly blessed and so grateful to know that there is always somewhere to turn or someone willing to lend a hand or a smile, unconditionally. Everyone should have endless supplies of that like I do.
Religion. You know me, I'm not one to get all mushy-gushy-Mormon-girl on here, so I won't. Just know that I'm grateful to know the things I do, to have the faith I have and to hope for things to come. Be good to each other!
Roberts. My husband would probably have put this at the top of my 'favorites' list, but he overestimates the amount of time I really do spend at this store. But when I do, I'm happy. I can always find a project to work on, last minute supplies for one I've already started or cute holiday decorations for my house. And you can't beat that 40% coupon ever time, am I right? Speaking of, I need to go there this week and get some rub-on letters and numbers for my latest project.
'S' tomorrow. Promise.

I had so much fun making this today!
Honestly, by the time I figured out my plan {implementing what I had pictured in my head} and got my kids situated, it took maybe 1 hour. Factor in, of course, time for paint and glue to dry.
All items on the front are attached with modge podge. Back side of cookie sheet is used to store unused number magnets for future use. And CHEAP! I think this project cost me a total of $10 and that's accounting for the purchase of tons of magnets {that I'll have other projects} and a 3 pack of cookie sheets. I think I'll use the biggest one for a yearly calendar {project TBD} and the middle size for my next project.
Next project? A Christmas countdown and a tutorial! Yep, I'm going to attempt my first step-by-step tutorial in a few weeks. Keep checking back!
